Facebook Notifications is a Chrome extension for Windows that lets you receive notifications from Facebook.

Facebook can provide you many notifications, such as when a friend has made a post or someone has messaged you directly. Within Facebook settings, you can configure which notifications are pushed to you, provide more passively or not delivered at all.

Older versions of the Chrome browser did not support push notifications for websites. Therefore, even if you had notifications from Facebook set up, you would not receive them when using Chrome. This Facebook-developed extension was developed to overcome that problem.

You can download it directly and then activate or install it from within the Chrome web browser. It auto-configures, but there are also settings so that you can determine when notifications are delivered to you and how—such as the area of the screen where the dialog shows. There is even a convenient suppress button so that you disable notifications when working or whatever.

This is an official extension developed by Facebook for Facebook users using Chrome. It is no longer supported because as Chrome became more sophisticated, so did its support of notifications. Notifications are now handled the same for all sites. You do not need a Facebook-specific extension, and you can enable or disable Facebook notifications at any time. This extension can be useful if for whatever reason you are purposefully using an older version of chrome.
